Fescue Overseeding
Overseeding is the process of introducing fescue grass seed into lawns that are thin, patchy, or heavily shaded. In Oklahoma, this is most commonly needed in areas where Bermuda grass struggles due to limited sunlight. As part of the transition zone, fescue is not a permanent grass here—it typically declines during the heat of July and August and must be reseeded each year to maintain a full, green lawn.
We perform fescue overseeding in the early fall, which is the ideal time for establishment before winter. Our team uses a premium fescue seed blend, applied at optimal rates to ensure thick, even coverage. A starter fertilizer is applied at the same time to support strong root development and healthy growth from the start.
Proper watering is essential for success. Newly seeded fescue should be watered daily to keep the soil consistently moist during germination. Once the seed has sprouted, watering can be reduced to every few days as the new grass becomes established.
Lawn Aeration
Aeration is the process of perforating the soil with small holes to allow air, water, and nutrients to penetrate the grass roots. This helps to cut down on thatch buildup, alleviates soil compaction and root stress, and provides a better growing environment for your turf, resulting in a stronger, more vigorous lawn. Aerating is one of the most important cultural practices and should be considered annually. We schedule aerations between May 15th and June 15th, at the beginning of the growing season.
